From 1995 till 2000, we taught Wicca every Friday night in our Covenstead home, focussing on specific Wiccan concepts. After an hour or so of lecture and discussion of theory, we would go downstairs to our ritual room and put theory into practice by doing a ritual based on the lesson. Our teaching style enabled us to imbue receptive students with knowledge of magical theory and reverence for the Gods and Old Ways, to immerse them in Wiccan tradition, and to provide them with direct experience of as many aspects of the Craft as possible. Our students were considered part of "the group" until they completed a full wheel-of-the-year cycle. If ready, they were then initiated, and usually asked to join the Coven proper. Elevations to Second and Third-degree require another, and then another year-and-a-day's study. The core Coven circles each Sabbat and full moon. Though the classes are grouped progressively by subject, their order within each category is not necessarily fixed. At present the curriculum comprises 40 classes, leaving 12 Friday nights in the year free for Sabbats, student-organized rituals, snow days, etc. The year begins just after Samhain, when we receive the majority of requests from seekers to study with us (after the Samhain public ritual).
